Are you organizing an event at home, in a hall or elsewhere and you don’t know which tables to rent? Not to worry! We’ve got you covered! In this article, we bring you tips that so you can choose between rectangular, square, round or oval tables, depending on the characteristics of your event. Keep reading!
Consider the Guest List
The list will tell you which tables to choose for your event. In the vast majority of cases, round tables of 8 people are chosen, but this is not always the best idea. Also keep in mind that there is no hard and fast rule that all tables should have the same number of seats, as guests usually come in disparate groups.
For example, you’re hosting your daughter’s 15th birthday party, and her group of friends has 10 people. You don’t want to divide the group by placing 6 people on one side and 4 people next to 2 strangers. In this case, there should be a table of 10 for the birthday girl and her friends, and the other guests divided into tables of 8 and 6. In this way, you will distinguish the main table, while you will welcome relatives, friends and acquaintances in each of them, without mixing too much and ensuring the best interactivity.
Fit the Space
Pay attention to the room. If it’s a very defined rectangle, with very little detail and a fairly flat roof, it’s practical to copy the shapes on the tables, to create a linearity that allows for integration. If it is a circular space (for example, a round central courtyard and a circular platform around it), round tables are also the most practical.
If the room or space is irregular, or doesn’t delineate a specific shape, consider that long, rectangular tables are more formal, round tables are more intimate and informal, oval tables are more elegant (but are most popular when there is only one, huge table, in events of up to 16 people), and square ones give a modern touch, although they prevent good interaction with diners who are far away.
Keep in mind that the availability of space will speak volumes about the number of guests, so the event won’t be too crowded or too small. Once you know the size and shape of the room, as well as the appropriate number of guests, divide them into groups of 6, 8, or 10 to find out, at the same time, what the ideal size of that table will be for your planning.
Match the Style and Elegance
If you rent tables and chairs for your event, what you will certainly see will be simple boards, perhaps not even laminated or on washed wooden surfaces and even a little rough, although regular. Don’t be scared off by this lack of aesthetics, and choose firmer tables of the right shape and size, as their design will not be visible at the event.
Many pay an extra fortune to make the tables and chairs look more attractive, whether it’s the table, the legs or the pipes. But then they will be covered with long tablecloths (from the table to the floor to the tablecloth) and baseboards or chair robes. You’ll save a lot if you choose less showy furniture, then spend that extra money on more elegant table linens for both tables and chairs.
